Membership includes:
Members must be enrolled in full-time study at UBC – Vancouver and are expected to maintain a 65% average (75% for scholarship eligibility), demonstrate continued growth in leadership and community service throughout their undergraduate studies, and participate in weekly Wednesday night meetings and other key membership events throughout the school year.
When I decided I wanted to join a sorority, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but from the moment I stepped into the Alpha Gam chapter room, I was blown away. Everyone was so welcoming and authentic, and since joining, I’ve never felt the need to pretend to be someone I’m not; the girls welcome me for exactly who I am and what I have to offer. I’ve made some of my closest friends at university and in life through Alpha Gam, and I always feel supported by my sisters. Their love and support have given me the confidence to become a leader in the chapter through my role on Executive Council, and having the chance to help shape and improve the chapter has taught me so many important leadership and life skills. Whether I want someone to laugh with, cry with, study with, take a dance class with, or even go on a walk with, I know my sisters are always down to join me, and I’ll forever be grateful that Alpha Gam has brought them into my life!
As someone who lived in five different places by the age of seven, I have always had a passion for helping people feel included as they enter new spaces. As VP New Member Experience I am able to do just that. I take so much joy in introducing our new members to a community of intelligent, compassionate, and empowered people. I know our whole chapter shares my excitement as we near Recruitment. Meeting so many people with such unique personalities is one of my favorite parts of being in a Panhellenic organization. After Recruitment the fun continues in getting to know everyone on an even closer level. I remember my new member period being full of laughter and adventure. I am honoured to serve as VP New Member Experience and create that atmosphere for all our new members. AGD has been a wonderful resource full of supportive and friendly faces and I know our new members will feel the same. I am grateful for the opportunity to know and grow with my sisters through these exciting four years.
