Dear Potential New Member,
When I first arrived at UBC, I had no idea that joining Alpha Gamma Delta would make UBC feel like home. I found a community of kind, driven, outgoing women through joining AGD, and they have made my life on campus an inspiring and fulfilling experience. Having qualities of ambition, compassion, and enthusiasm is exactly what we are looking for in the women who join our sisterhood.
Meeting my sisters showed me just how supportive, inclusive, and empowering sorority life can be, and I truly believe you would thrive in an environment like this. Serving as Vice President of Recruitment has helped me improve as both a leader and as a person, and it’s been incredibly meaningful to help women find a place where they feel they belong. If leadership is something you’re interested in, joining Alpha Gam provides unlimited opportunities that can help you grow and develop, and I encourage you to seek out a position within the chapter. I believe that you get back from a sorority what you put into it, and AGD has countless opportunities for you to get involved in Greek life and different initiatives on campus.
If you’re considering Formal Recruitment this fall, my biggest advice is to trust yourself and stay true to who you are. The right place will recognize and value you for exactly that. There is a home for you in Greek life, and I hope to see you find a community of intelligent, confident women who will add meaning to your life at UBC.
Dear Potential New Member,
I know coming into this process can feel a little overwhelming, and it’s completely normal to have doubts or wonder where you’ll fit. But from the moment you walk into Alpha Gamma Delta, my hope is that you feel the same sense of comfort and warmth that so many of us did, a feeling of being genuinely welcomed for who you are.
AGD is a place where people truly care about each other. It’s not about being perfect or having everything figured out, it’s about finding a group of girls who support you, encourage you and make you feel like you belong. Whether it’s through the bigger moments or just the everyday things like laughing over coffee or spending time together after a long day, those connections are what make this experience so special.
More than anything, I hope you find a space where you feel at home, where you can grow and where you’re surrounded by people who want the best for you. Whichever sorority you join, you deserve to feel that kind of support — and if that is here with us in Alpha Gam, we would be so lucky to welcome you into our community.
We acknowledge that UBC’s main campus is situated within the ancestral and unceded territory of the Musqueam people.
